This unit consists of arkosic alluvium forming Mokelumne River terraces and alluvial <br /> fans. It is chiefly composed of sand with minor gravel, silt and is probably glacial outwash from <br /> the Sierra Nevada mountain range (Plate 5). <br /> The surface and near surface soils located at the site are reported by the San Joaquin County <br /> - Soil Survey to be composed of Archerdale very fine sandy loam, Acampo sandy loam, and San <br /> Joaquin loam (Plate 6) (USDA, 1992).
