Harney Ln. Lodi, Ca.
Dear Sir:
I am contacting your office to make you aware of our opposition to the proposed
composting site located at 1320 E. Harney Ln. Lodi. I own a 30 acre Ag parcel that is
located directly adjacent, to the south boundary of the proposed composting site. The
parcel is planted in vineyard, with about H acres of safflower.
Our reasons for opposing the composting operation are identified below:
• The site is located on Ag property, located between vineyards, and row crop farming
operations.
• The site is long and narrow, almost a half mile long, and 330' wide. A lot of dust can
be generated from this operation. Trucks traveling up and down the roadway, the
dumping, turning, loading and screening the composting material can all create dust.
• My property lies downwind from the area. It is likely that any dust and debris
created from the operation will blow onto my property. Dust is detrimental to grape
production, it causes large increases in insect buildup which harm the vines.
• I understand that the composting material is kept wet while it is processing_ This
adjacent moisture may cause my vineyard to develop mildew. Mold is also a
concern.
• Odor, and noise created by the 6 day a week operation could create a problem.
• The composting material will contain leaves, prunings and lawn clippings. Bermuda
grass seed will likely be present in the lawn clippings, as well as other nuisance
weed seeds. When this material is hauled dumped, turned, handled etc. the small
