Gau ti
Senior Civil Engineer
Development Services
Engineering Division
SUBJECT: SUBDIVISION MAP ACT
On Monday, 'S•eptember 13th the Governor signed Senate Bill 428
which added Section 66452 . il to the Subdivision Map Act. The
Bill was acted as an urgency statute and, therefore, became
effective on the date the Governor signed the legislation.
This statute extends the life of all existincr tentative maps for
an additional 24 months. This extension is automatic and does
not require to file a Time Extension Application. No matter what
stage the approved tentative map is in, it is automatically
extended for an additional 24 months.
Tentative maps that expired prior to September 13th do not get
the benefit of this legislation. Additionally, maps that are
approved after September 13th fall under the normal time limits
previously provided for in the Subdivision Map Act and
Development Title.
Should you have any questions on this recent legislation, please
contact me. This topic will be the point of discussion at a
future, Development Services Staff meeting for clarification and
implementation.
TMG: ss r
SUBMAPAC.MEM.
c: Tom Walker, Chief Deputy Director
Peggy Keranen, Deputy Director
Mike McGrew, County Counsel
Manuel Lopez , Department of Public Works
