San Joaquin County
Community Development Dept mJnUryNe0Ve3GN/1999/,err(
Attn; KrrySuilvan
1810 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton , Ca. 95205 May 24 , 1999
This letter is to state our opposition to the proposed Rios labor camp on
Harney Ln, application # UP-98-18. This is the identical camp the Board of
Supervisors rejected last year, only the wording is changed from 400 Single
Male to 400 Adult. Supervisor Marenco stated that an enviromental report should
have been done, yet one has not been done.
Mr. Rios stated he wanted to comprimise and work with the residents in the
area.Yet all he has done is change the wording on an allready denied
proposal, without ever meeting with residents. There are two sewage treatment
plants identical to the proposed treatment plant in operation ,niether works. We
are concerned about traffic, there is already a County Dump and a 288 Person
Labor Camp on Harney Ln.. Will Alchohol be sold at the camp? Will backround
checks be done to keep out Sex Offenders? What about Security?
Our opinion is that Mr. Rios is not trying to further the cause of the migrant
unskilled laborer, but make a substantial profit from there already meager
earnings. We are against this Project and what we feel it will do to our
community. We hope that the Use Permit will be Rejected.
Respectfully ,
l
