Phase E Environmental Site Assessment
Neighborhoods D,K,L,and Town Center,Mountain House,California
Page 13
On the 1978 map, the pipeline is no longer indicated and a building was removed along the southern
boundary of Neighborhood D. In Town Center, one of the small structures appears as a bam and the
access road encircles the remaining small.structure. The northeastern structure is no longer indicated. In
Neighborhood K, the pump is no longer indicated and intermittent waterways are located throughout the
properties: most are north/south trending and appear to connect to a waterway that follows the contours of
the river and northern boundary. In Neighborhood L, the barn and the orchard are no longer indicated and
the access road extends to the levee (north). Sea level is indicated south of the northern boundaries in
Neighborhoods.K and L.
In addition to the USGS maps, Condor has acquired copies of other historic maps in the past several years
in conjunction with a varietyof Site activities. One ma appears to be a Pacific Gas and Electric
P pp
Company(PG&E) map identified only as Mendota—Richmond, Sheet 22 of 33, From M.P. 220+77 P to
M.P. 225. This map, dated 1937 with the last update of 1944, shows the PG&E pipeline (Old Valley
Pipeline) and adjacent structures, the railroad, and Byron Road. Located in the nor-them boundary of
Town Center is an 8-inch PG&E gas line. At the northeast comer of Town Center (southwest corner of
Mountain House Parkway and Byron Road) is a 6-inch PG&E gas line, a service station, a toilet, and a
church.
Aerial photographs dated 1957, 1963, 1982, and 1993 were reviewed. The 1957. photograph shows
Neighborhood D as agricultural land with a small farm complex along the southern tree-lined boundary
road. A bam, house, small outbuildings, and possible corral area are located within the farm complex. An
irrigation ditch is located along the northernperimeter of the farm complex. A northwest/southeast
trending feature(possible underground pipeline location) extends across Neighborhood D and through the
adjoining southern property. Irrigation ditches are located in the northern and in the southwestern portions
of the Neighborhood D. In Town Center, a large farm complex is located southeast of a
northeast/southwest trending creek. Six large buildings, a house, several fenced pen areas, and small
outbuildings are located within the perimeter of the farm complex. The surrounding land is used as
agricultural fields. Possibly three small structures and a yard are located in the northeastern corner of
Town Center. Roads are located along the northern and eastern boundaries of Town Center. The 1957
aerials for Neighborhoods K and L are of poor quality. The neighborhoods are agricultural land with a
river located along the northern boundaries. Irrigation ditches (with associated farm roads) form networks
across the neighborhoods. A tributary of the river extends south-southwest onto Neighborhood L. A farm
complex is located east of the tributary. An .access road extends from the farm complex through the
southern adjoining properties to a road. The road extends along the southern boundary of the western
portion of Neighborhood L. A portion of a farm complex is located along the southwestern.comer of
Neighborhood L. Three narrow trace features (possible roadways, drainages; or underground lines) are
located west of the tributary in Neighborhoods K.and L.
The 1963 photograph shows a second northwest/southeast trending feature (possible underground
pipeline location) extending across Neighborhood D towards the adjoining eastern property. The
irrigation ditch north of the small farm complex in Neighborhood D is removed. A possible power tower
is located in the southeastern corner of Neighborhood D. No changes are apparent in the 1963 photograph
for Town Center or Neighborhood L. Two small structures are located along the northern irrigation
waterway in Neighborhood K.
The two northwest/southeast-trending features in Neighborhood D are no longer distinguishable in the
1982 photograph. A house and yard are located east of the farm complex along the southern boundary of
i Neighborhood D. No changes are apparent in the 1982 photograph for Town Center. The three narrow
trace features located west of the tributary in Neighborhoods K and L are no longer apparent.
t
A -
 ir1 CON©OR
