i
C
6. November 17,2005
NOA Project Number: E05152A
L. map unit is described as a"heterogeneous mix of poorly sorted clay, silt, sand, and gravel;some
beds of claystone, siltstone,sandstone,and conglomerate."
6. The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the San Joaquin County Soil Sung
to be composed of Redding gravelly loam,2 to 8 percent slopes, San Joaquin sandy loam,0 to 2
percent slopes, and San Joaquin sandy loam,2 to 5 percent slopes (Plate 8) (USDA, 1992). Table 3
r presents some selected properties of these soils:
Table 3.
San Joaquin County Soil Survey
Selected Soil Properties of On-Site Soils.
Soil Name Depth Unified Soil Classification Salinity Soil Perme- Septic tank
and Map (in) mmhos/cm Reaction ability absorption
Symbol pH (in/hr) fields
Redding 0-7: Gravelly loam;SC,SC-SM,GC, <2 5.1 -6.5 0.6-2.0 Severe:
gravelly loam, GM-GC. cemented
2-8 percent 7-16: Gravelly loam,gravelly clay <2 5.1 -6.5 0.2-0.6 pan
i slopes,220. loam;CL,CL-ML,GC,GM-GC
16-22: Clay,clay loam;CH,CL <2 5.1 -6.5 <0.06
22-60: Indurated --- — —
Sm Joaquin 0-13: Sandy loam,SM <2 5.6-6.5 0.6-2.0 Severe:
sandy loam, 13-20: Clay loam,clay,CL <'_ 6.1 -7.8 <0.06 cemented
0-2 percent 20-60: Indurated -- --- --- pan,pries
slopes,236. slowl
Note:The table descriptions do not necessarily reflect site-specific soil properties.
V 5.1 Soil Boring Locations
A total of eight soil borings were advanced on the Site,to depths between three to 25 feet,as noted
in Table 5. The soil borings were used later for percolation test holes; the locations of the borings J
are indicated in Plate 1.
5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
The soil borings were three to 25 feet deep, as noted above, and were 10 inches in diameter. The
dimensions of each boring can be found on the percolation test forms in the appendix of this report.
5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
Generally, the soil encountered in the boring is similar to the soils reported by the San Joaquin
County Soil Survey for the area (USDA, 1992). Table 4 presents a soil log for the 25-foot deep soil
borings. Conditions were comparable in all borings, expect that cobbles were encountered at 25 feet
6
L
V
