FAnelectrical transformer was found on a pole near the domestic well. It appears to be the original <br /> probably to serve the chicken coop barn and house. Therefore, it may contain <br /> biphenyl (PCB) laden oil. If this transformer were to leak or explode, it would be the <br /> y of the transformer owner(P.G. & E)to mitigate any environmental contamination. <br /> From previous nitrate loading and soil suitability studies in this locale, it is known that there are <br /> typically lower concentrations of nitrate in the underlying drinking water aquifers in comparison to <br /> areas of shallower groundwater that may be under agricultural production. Low nitrate <br /> concentrations in the area are attributable to the relatively deep groundwater, no agricultural fertilizer <br /> inputs and a very low septic system density. <br /> PUBLIC ENVIRONMENTAL RECORD/DATA SOURCES <br /> Static groundwater is found approximately 130 feet under the property as illustrated on the <br /> attached 1999 Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater map. From the 1999 Lines of Equal <br /> Elevation of Groundwater, the groundwater directional flow appears to be toward the east, <br /> southeast, although the gradient is considerably flat. A groundwater depth of 130 feet can be <br /> considered a deep groundwater elevation which cannot be impacted from serious point source <br /> hazardous materials releases, agrichemicals such as pesticides/herbicides, or nitrates from <br /> fertilizers. The degree of impact from agrichemicals is particularly mitigated when there are <br /> intervening layers of clay or hardpan soil down to the static water table depth. It is known that a <br /> hardpan and clay strata exist in this locale. <br /> Based upon personal communication with Doug Wilson of the Environmental Health Department, <br /> there are no recors o a ove ground, or under ground`(AST/UST) storage tanks at the subject <br /> property address. This is also illustrated on the attached GeoTracker Site Map, which shows no <br /> Underground Storage Tanks (USTs)or Leaking Underground Storage Tanks (LUSTS) tanks near <br /> the site. An Underground Storage Tank(UST) site is shown approximately two miles to the north <br /> of the property. This site can be considered crossgradient and virtually impossible to impact the L <br /> subject site. Potential environmental impacts from past,present or future facilities within a one tl' <br /> mile radius is unknown at this time, but highly unlikely. <br /> Two sources of information which attempt to document and define on-site and surrounding past land <br /> use were also utilized. The fust is the use of aerial photographs. Aerial photographs of the subject <br /> area from 1970 through 1977 found on USDA Soil Maps show the chicken coop barn and the houses <br /> on the property. The aerial photo shows that there are no buildings east of this barn. The USDA Soil <br /> Map shows the soil to consist of a Redding gravelly loam(#220). Typically, these soil types are well <br /> drained with slow permeability. There are sufficient soil "fines" to impede rapid percolation so <br /> treatment of effluent can occur before reaching the water table, unlike what would be encountered <br /> with a very sandy soil. The second source of information can be found on USGS maps. The property <br /> is located within the Peters Quadrangle map, which is found in the Appendix and shows only the <br /> chicken coop and house. <br /> LNotedon Environmental Questionnaire, is the response to pesticide applications to the property. <br /> s have been applied to the property.
