Ground water gradient is 6.25 ft per
Water Map.Plates 3 and 5. mile and flow direction north.
_ No ground water wells are located on the property or near by the property. We
understand from Dave Silva that the area east of Interstate 5 is served by a public water supply.
Due to the absence of an onsite water well and the owner's intent to continue to use the land for
truck storage,no ground-water sample was tested for DBCP and Nitrate.
VI. GEOLOGY,SOILS,AND PERCOLATION TEST
The surficial geology of the site is reported to be the Pleistocene age (10,000 years to
about 1.8 million years old) Modesto Formation! The Modesto Formation is generally
comprised of old alluvium that forms distinct alluvial terraces, some alluvial fans, and channel
ridges. Atwater's map shows a light stipple pattern at the site indicating loose sand and silt
whose origin is chiefly fluvial (Plate 6).
The soil located on the site is reported to be the Veritas fine sandy loam (Plate 7). The
Soil Survey of San Joaquin County describes the Veritas fine sandy loam as "a moderately well
drained, nearly level soil that forms on low terraces. It is deep to a hardpan. It formed in
alluvium derived from mixed rock sources. Permeability is moderately rapid in the Veritas
soil. "3 Table 3 presents an excerpt of some selected engineering properties for the soil located
on the subject property.
z Atwater B.F., 1982.
