PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY ,
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DMSION `
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420 FILE C
LOLLY BOZZANO OCT 9 1998
2891 N ARATA RD
STOCKTON CA 95215
RE: THREE PALMS GROCERY Site Code: 1830
6732 E HWY 88
STOCKTON CA 95205
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the Summary Report for Subsurface Investigation at the above referenced
site prepared by ATC Associates, Inc. Soil and groundwater samples collected during
boring work done at this site on June 18, 1998, evidence contamination. The lateral
extent of the contamination has not been determined. An Additional site assessment
Work Plan should be submitted to PHS/EHD to determine the lateral extent of
contamination and to further evaluate groundwater conditions. The Work Plan should
include the following components:
1. At least three Monitoring Wells (MWs) should be installed and screened at an
interval representative of the affected groundwater. Quarterly sample collection from
these MWs should be initiated after installation. Groundwater samples should be
analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method
8015; Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020,
and Oxygenates by EPA Method 8260.
2. Water from the domestic well on site should be collected and analyzed using EPA
Method 524.2.
3. A receptor survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial and any other wells
within 2,000 feet radius of this site should be conducted. Contact the Department of
Water Resources, municipal suppliers and any nearby industries to search for wells.
Perform a physical search of the area to locate wells or other receptor risks. Show
locations of all wells, provide any known construction details and evaluate any
pumping influence with respect to the possibility of contaminant migration and public
and/or environmental health threat.
4. Provide site maps, top view of site and cross section view of contaminated soil zones
and proposed MW locations (show previous and existing Underground Storage Tank
locations and associated piping and dispensers).
A Division of San Joaquin County Hcalth Care Services
