CA-Code: 1621
Dear Mr. Sasson:
The attached lab report summarizes analyses performed for composite soil samples
collected from five-55 gallon drums of soil cuttings and one-55 gallon drum for
rinseate water generated during the field investigation for the aforementioned site.
The soil samples were collected by excavating with a long handled spade shovel to an
approximate depth of 1.5 feet into each drum in order to obtain a representative
composite sample of the soil in the drum. A six-inch by two-inch brass tube was driven
into the soil with a wooden mallet at three separate sample points within the drum
until full. Each sample tube was capped at each end with plastic caps, taped with duct
tape, and inserted into plastic Zip-loc bags. for analysis for TPHg/BTEX/MTBE. The
water sample was collected from drum # D-W-2 by lowering a 2-inch steel bailer to
the bottom of the drum and then placing the extracted water into 40 ml VOAs with a
preservative. All samples were placed on ice at 4 degrees centigrade, for transport to
a state certified laboratory.
TPHg concentrations were 10 ppm, ND, 33 ppm, ND, and 5.9 ppm for drums #D-1, D-
3, D-4, D-5, and D-6 respectively. Analysis of the water samples identified 250 ppb
TPHg. The contents of the six drums will be transported to their appropriate le al
points of disposal depending upon Cour classification of this waste, immediately.
Also, we would like the site considered for closure according to the rationale
presented in the subsurface investigation.
GFD
z
ely, N J.
