(Delta) has been authorized by Tesoro Petroleum Companies,
Inc., (Tesoro) to conduct a Baseline Assessment of the subject site. Tesoro has recently sold the
station to USA Petroleum(USA). The purpose of the assessment is to document soil and groundwater
quality beneath the site at the time of ownership transfer. Delta conducted subsurface drilling at the site
in conformance with procedures provided by Tesoro and USA. Tesoro and USA approved the work
prior to implementation of drilling activities. This report presents the results of field work and
laboratory chemical analyses conducted in November and December 2003.
Site Description
The site is located at 13975 East Highway 88 Lockeford, California(Figure 1). The site is currently
a USA Petroleum service station, located on the corner of Cherry Street and Main Street west of the
intersection. Depth to groundwater measured at an adjacent site ranges from approximately 70 to 75
feet below surface grade(bsg). Groundwater flow direction is generally towards the southwest.
Description of Work
Delta supervised V&W Drilling Company while they advanced six soil borings to approximately 30 to
35 feet below surface grade (bsg). The locations of the soil borings are shown on Figure 2. The soil
borings were advanced utilizing a direct-push drill rig. Soil samples were collected at five-foot
intervals and logged
to the total depth drilled. Soil types encountered were classified using the Unified Soil Classification
System, Visual/Manual Method, and recorded on a soil-boring log.
