(Stratus) has prepared this letter, on behalf of USA Gasoline <br /> Corporation (USA), to obtain drilling permits for baseline environmental evaluation of <br /> subsurface conditions at USA Station No. 3756, located at 13957 East Highway 88, <br /> Lockeford, California. A completed permit application, a check in the amount of <br /> $374.00, and a copy of a site plan illustrating proposed drilling locations, are attached to <br /> this letter. <br /> PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The primary objectives, and proposed activities to achieve these objectives, are presented <br /> below: <br /> • Characterization of subsurface conditions in the vicinity of the underground storage <br /> tanks (USTs), product piping, and dispenser islands using a hollow stem auger drill <br /> rig, <br /> • Collection of soil samples in 5-foot intervals during advancement of the boreholes <br /> to approximately 50 feet below ground surface (bgs). Soil samples will be collected <br /> for lithologic logging, field screening, and possible laboratory analyses. <br /> • Collection of a groundwater sample, if groundwater is encountered in the upper 50 <br /> feet of the subsurface, and <br /> • Preparation of a report presenting the field observations, analytical data, and <br /> recommendations. <br /> The proposed scope of work presented above has been subdivided into tasks 1 through 5. <br /> All geologic work will be conducted under the supervision of a State of California <br /> Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer, and will be conducted in accordance <br /> KAUSA Gasoline\3756\Correspondence\USA3756 Baseline Study letter.doc <br />
