Highway 88
Lockeford, California
Dear Mr. Pedraza:
Attached please find the laboratory analytical results for the soil samples obtained in association
with Ultramar's product line replacement project at the above referenced site.
BSK personnel collected eleven soil samples from underneath the former product lines (Samples
S-PL-#) and dispenser islands (Samples S-DSP-#), and two soil samples from an approximately
30 cubic yard spoil pile (Samples S-SP-#) on December 15, 1999. Sample locations (illustrated
in Figure 1) and sampling methodology were approved and observed in the field by you and Ms.
Alison Youngblood of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS-EHD).
Soil samples were obtained by driving brass tubes into the bottom of hand excavated pits in the
trench bottom, in the bottom of hand auger borings drilled beneath the former dispenser locations
and in the spoil pile using a hand actuated slide hammer sampler. Subsequent to collection, the
ends of the sample tubes were covered with Teflon film and sealed with plastic caps. The soil
samples were labeled, a chain of custody prepared and the samples were relinquished to a
representative of Kiff Analytical at the project site. The Kiff Analytical representative
transported the samples to Kiff Analytical, LLC for analysis. The samples were analyzed using
EPA Method 8015 for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), EPA Method 8020 for
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), EPA Method 8260 for five (5) fuel
Geotechnical Engineering • Engineering Geology • Environmental Services • Construction Inspection &Testing • Analytical Testing
