R
July 16 , 1987 -
AGS Job No. 87048-1
Beacon Station #675 - Lockeford, CA _ N
drilling and well construction during operat-ions, conducted from
June 4 through June 12 1987 . Drilling g problems _were encountered
that resulted in ' two instances ofOaugers being lost .in the hole
and considerable drilling delays. Four borings were drilled with
a Mobile B-61 truck-mounted drill "rig operated by Datum
Exploration, Inc. of Pittsburg, California. Two borings were
located in the inferred downgradieInt direction from the
underground tank cluster; to evaluate -potential hydrocarbon
contamination .f.r.om. the tanks. A- third boring-wa-s located in the
inferred upgradient direction of the underground tanks to
establish background soil and -ground water quality data. The
fourth boring was drilled in the inferred downgradient direction
from the product lines and di's'pensers. -to` evaluate potential
contamination from these sources.
IWI
-
Steam-cleaned, - 8-inch diameter, continuous flight hollow=stem
augers were used to drill borings B-1 through B-4 to a depth of
approximately 81 feet. This- depthI' was considered sufficient to
A
installthe ground water monitoring wells . -Ground water was
initially_ encountered. at approximately 65 feet below the ground
0
surface during drilling. .. Monitoring' well MW-1 -was installed in .-
boring B-1 , MW-2 in boring B-2 , MW-3 in boring B-3 , and MW-4 in
boring B-4 . Locations of monitoring wells at the site are shown
q
on the Generalized Site Plan.
Aioiv/led GeoSystems- _
