rM; WWX
;
AppliG'd GeOSy 4191-E Power Inn Road, Sacramento,CA 95826 (916)452-2901
e FREMONT •IRVINE o HOUSTON • BOSTON •SACRAMENTO a CULVER CITY •,SAN JOSE
July 13, 1987
` 87048-1
Mr. Robert Phillips
Sharibob Inc.
11490 Alpine Road
Stockton, California 95212
Subject: Transmittal of Report No. 87048-1, Subsurface
Environmental Investigation, Soil Boring and
Monitoring Well Installation at Beacon Station,
0875, 13975 East Highway 88, Locke£ord, California
Mr. Phillips-
This report presents our findings from the environmental
investigation conducted at the above-referenced site. The
purpose of the investigation was to evaluate potential .
hydrocarbon contamination of subsurface soil and ground water at
the site. The investigation included the drilling of four soil
borings, installation of four 2-inch diameter groundwater
monitoring wells, well development and surveying, ground water
sampling, and laboratory analyses.
This investigation indicates that ground water beneath the site
has hydrocarbon contamination that is not within generally
accepted drinking water standards recommended by the state
Department of Health Services. Two, open dry wells are located
in catch basins adjacent to Highway 88. These dry wells act as
drains for runoff (wash-downs, rain, product spills, etc.) from
the product dispenser area and provide a conduit for the
introduction of hydrocarbons into the soil and ground water. ' We
recommend that the dry wells be destroyed. We also recommend
that water in the ground water monitoring wells be sampled and
analyzed quarterly. for dissolved hydrocarbon contamination to
evaluate contaminate trends.
In our opinion, if ground water useage warrants, or if ground
water monitoring indicates the continuing or increasing
introduction of hydrocarbon contamination into the ground water,
the extent of ground water contamination should be further
investigated by conducting a soil vapor investigation and/or by
-- - ---- - - --excavating-selectively-located-boreholes-and-installing___
additional ground water monitoring wells.'
