FFIns7ummary, the soils investigation has found the indigenous soils under the proposed domesticer disposal area contains a comparatively high percentage of clay that possesses
permeability and denitrification characteristics. To take advantage of these favorable
cteristics, Infiltrator Chambers®will be specified in a dual filter bed arrangement, with
dose system.
Current nitrate impact to the gro wat under the existing facility was found to-e-i7ceed—the
Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) f r nitrate in drinking water in two of the groundwater test
borings. The nitrate concentra 'on below the MCL in the thirdiest boring, under the
proposed filter bed area. exi ' g domestic well that will ;;We the project was found to have
a nitrate concentration o 35 ppm a nitrate. Since this well may be designated as a public well, it
may have to be monitored ue o this nitrate concentration.
Within the text of this Report, bolded Section (§)numbers are referenced at the beginning of an
applicable Paragraph or Paragraphs, Appendix or Table of Contents that correspond with the
EHD Requirements Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as SSS§, are sections applicable for
the Soil Suitability Study Requirements Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as NLS§, are
sections applicable for the Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist. Other portions of
text may also apply to other sections of the Checklists.
II. SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY FINDINGS
A. SUBJECT PROPERTY AND SURROUNDING STUDY AREA INFORMATION
SSS§ 1.1 Surrounding land use to the east of the project is, and has been, in agricultural
`production for many decades. As noted on the San Joaquin County Parcel Viewer Maps, the
current surrounding land use is composed primarily of agricultural production land to the north,
south and east. Directly to the north of the project are the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. To the
west is the City of Tracy, and high density sing le-'atx 1 residential to the west-southwest, all of
which are on City sewer. The property is zone I-L, Li 'ted Industrial.
SSS§ 3.1, 3.2, 3.3,3.4, 3.5, 3.6 _Applications on microfiche file with the EHD reveal that there have
been no permits issued for repairs/additions to existing systems within a one-half mile surrounding
the project site. Additionally, there were no septic system permits for the original installation of the
on-site system, nor permits for repairs/additions to the on-site system. Permits in this specific area of
Tracy would be few since the City Limits are west of the site, and surrounding county land to the
northeast, east and south of the site is sparsely developed.
The project site has relatively level terrain; consequently, there will be no need to incorporate design
considerations for slopes within the filter bed area. Nor are there dramatic elevational differences
between the lift stations and the septic tanks which would cause an increase in pump head.
2
Chesney Consulting
