1.00
L
Aoolicant's Request
i,. Teichert Aggregates proposes to excavate a ±50.6-acre portion of a ±55.9-acre site (the Rose
property) for sand and gravel. This property is acknowledged by the State of California as
km regionally significant for its aggregate content and is noted as Sector A-2n on Division of
Mines and Geology mineral classification maps. The reclamation plan submitted complies
with San Joaquin County's regulations and meets the requirements of California's Surface
Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA).
Introduction
The Rose property is located on the east side of MacArthur Road, approximately one quarter
r
mile south of the intersection of Linne Road and MacArthur Road. The City of Tracy
represents the closest population center. Aggregate from the site will provide an additional
r
source of raw material for Teichert's operation to the west. The existing plant is governed
by San Joaquin County Permit EP-84-10.
L
Teichert's Rose property consists of two parcels (APN No. 253-210-10 and APN No. 253-
210-11). The property is in an area where aggregate extraction is now occurring. Lonestar
Industries and Granite Construction, as well as Teichert, are excavating nearby sites.
7
This property is important because it contains a vital portion of the deposits found in the
" Corral Hollow alluvial fan. The Department of Mines and Geology, in Mineral Land
Classification—Special Report 160, describes this fan as the primary source of construction
aggregate for San Joaquin County and the 1-5 Corridor. Loss of this site's aggregate resource
to other types of development would diminish the region's supply of this basic yet
r fundamental building material and could result in greater infrastructure and development
costs.
Proposal
.. This one-phase operation will remove ±2.08 million cubic yards of material. Anticipated
annual production is expected to range from ±500,000 to ±1.4 million cubic yards.
