v,/ ,,s,vvo vo. iV rnn z---• --
/ 1. SITE DESCRIPTION I PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
V At the time of our investigation, each of the parcels consisted of fallow field area that
had been recently plowed. Parcels 009-170-04 (152.23 acres) and 009-170-05
(179.61 acres) were located east and west, respectively, of an extension of Mackville
Road north of Liberty Road. The two parcels were bound to the north by a grape
vineyard, to the south by a dry creek bed, and the to east and west by bare field area
The parcels are currently zoned AG-80 (General Agriculture). We understand that
each parcel is planned to be split into two new parcels (4 total) and used as grape
vineyards. An aerial photograph taken May 9. 1993 showing the parcels is presented
on Plate 1
/2. PRESENT AND PAST USE
At the tinge of this investigation, the study area consisted of vacant land. Historical
aerial photographs taken at the site show the land to be undeveloped field area.
Based on information provided by the property owner, the parcels once consisted of
an apple orchard. No known commercial or residential uses of the study area are
known at this time.
J 3. SEPTIC PERMITS AND PERFORMANCE
SJCEHD files were searched to identify septic permits at parcels in the project vicinity.
There were no permits on file for the parcels proposed to be split. Five permits were
reviewed for five parcels located adjacent to or near the subject property. These
permits were for new installations and repairs/additions to existing septic systems.
Each of the permitted residential sewage disposal systems was for conventional
septic/leach field systems with 25-foot deep seepage pits. A summary of the permit
information is presented on Plate 3, and copies of the permits are attached.
✓ 4. FIELD INVESTIGATION
In order to evaluate the subsurface conditions at the project site, on June 8, 2006, one
sod profile boring was drilled within each proposed parcel area. The soil profile
borings were drilled to a depth of about 25 feet with the exception of the soil profile
boring drilled for percolation test P-4, which was terminated at a depth of
approximately 12 feet below existing site grade due to drilling refusal. The borings
were drilled using a Simco 2400 truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 6-inch O.D.
solid-stem auger. The approximate boring locations are presented on Plate 2. A
representative with our firm maintained a log of the borings and visually classified the
soils encountered according to the Unified Soil Classification System (see Plate 4).
