SAN JOAQUIN FARM BUREAU FEDERATION
r1:r!'0 MEETING TODAY'S CHALLENGES/PLANNING FOR TOMORROW
I
October 27,2016
Ms. Mo Hatef
San Joaquin County Community Development Department
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazleton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: PA-1600231
Dear Ms. Hatef:
The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation is a private, non profit organization dedicated to the
enhancement and protection of agricultural resources in San Joaquin County for over 100 years.
We are concerned that this application includes a subdivision that will create not only two
substandard parcels considering the AG-40 zoning, but also that these parcels are under a
Williamson Act contract. According to the San Joaquin County Development Title, section 9-
1810.2, the minimum acerage for prime farmland under contract is 20 acres. Here, the parcel that
is to be subdivided barely meets that criteria, and so the two parcels that would result from this
subdivision do not even come close.
We understand that there is an underlying variance application for the 40 acre minimum, but we
ask that as this project moves forward the landowners file a notice of nonrenewal for their
contract as the Williamson Act minimum acerage is statutory and should be enforced.
Please keep us informed as this application moves forward and if you have any questions, please
do not hesitate to contact the Farm Bureau at(209) 931-4931.
Sincerely,
President
3290 NORTH AD ART ROAD•STOCKTON,CA•95215•(209)931-4931 •(209)931-1433 Fax
WWW.SJFB.ORG
