n (1
I
The denitrification potential appears to be a factor due to the fine soil content of the indigenous
soils, the higher soil pH, and high soil moisture content. As referenced, the slowly permeable
stratum found at 15 feet may be causing high moisture content soils above this depth. This was
evident in the drilling procedures whereby high moisture content soils were observed from 10 ft to
15 ft in depth. This moisture originated from the heavy rainfall experienced during March and
April of 2006.
A careful accounting of the water usage must be done to properly manage any future wastewater
disposal system. Therefore, it is recommended, and will be required by EHD that a flowmeter be
placed in the fresh water supply from the domestic well. Since the wastewater effluent will have to
be pressurized for both drip irrigation and conventional chamber disposal, a flowmeter can be
placed after the effluent pump to record wastewater flow volumes for comparison with domestic
irrigation water use.
iSSS 6Based-u on_the data__o'btamed=-and the-infomiation- resented- t ism o inion that the Gas
p _ 1? These systems could consist of septic tanks and conventional,or semi-conventional
effluent disposal methods. This is provided that the C-Store has no food preparation services to
reduce organic loading and consequently nitrate-nitrogen loading. Any additional development
would require a Package Treatment Plant.
i
1
I
Page-25-
Chesney Consulting
