I
-41Rodney Estrada
October 4, 2007
Page 2
1
2. A sheet with bacteriological and chemical monitoring requirements for non-transient,
non-community water systems was provided for reference. The sheet includes test frequencies and
other information for the following types of parameters: secondary (aesthetics), inorganic chemicals,
nitrate, nitrite, volatile organic compounds, synthetic organic compounds, radiological, lead and
copper, and bacteriological.
3. The KMC water supply wells must have grout annular seals that extend 200 feet below the ground
surface.
4. To avoid arsenic monitoring and possible arsenic treatment requirements, SJCEHD staff suggested
the construction of two separate non-community water systems. Under this scenario, each water
system would include a well, well pump, chlorination system, storage tank, and distribution piping,
and the total number of employees within the facilities served by each water system would be limited
to 24. If one of the water systems provided water to 25 or more of the same people (i.e. employees)
more than 180 days per year, then that system would be a non-transient,non-community water
system and arsenic monitoring and possible arsenic treatment requirements would apply.
If any of the statements above are incorrect, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Nolte Associates,Inc. f
VJC'A (?.
Dave Richard,PE David Zensius, PE
Principal Project Manager
cc: Adrienne Eltsaesser, SJCEHD
Gurdip Kelley
Steve Welge,Fitlner Construction, Inc.
Howard Seligman, Seligman & Willett, Inc.
I
i
I
I
i
NOLTE ASSOCIATES, INC. n:\mtb015600\corresport&we\sjcehd Itr 100407.doe
f•
