May 25, 2006
FOR: Mr. Greg Oliveira, REHS MAY 2 6 2006
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department ENVIRQ, J JvT HEALTH
304 East Weber Ave. PERMIT,ISERVICES
Stockton, CA 95202
PROJECT: Preston Pipelines, Inc.
12833 South Manthey Road
Lathrop, CA 95330
Land Use Application#PA-04-646
SUBJECT: Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Studies Addendum
Reference is made to the Studies conducted for the project listed above. Additional information
regarding the Soil Suitability Study Checklist has been requested. Section 4.5 asks for a
description of how a water sample was obtained, handled, stored and transported to the lab.
Since there is no operational well on the subject property, water sampling for this project applies
to the water table samples obtained for both the East Leachfield (Office Building disposal area)
and the West Leachfield(Office Trailer disposal area). The water table samples for both sites
were retrieved with a stainless steel bailer that was cleaned with distilled water after each
sampling event. The sampled water was poured into a half-liter plastic bottle for each sample
site. Both samples were immediately placed in a cooled ice chest and transported under the
Chains of Custody found in Appendix G of the Report.
Section 3.4 asks for a description of existing septic tank usage in the general area. Due to the
high groundwater, only leachlines are allowed to be installed in this locale. Seepage pits and
sumps are not installed since portions of these structures would be in the groundwater.
Section 3.6 asks for a discussion of the general area septic tank repair history. Since the area is
obviously sparsely populated, the repair history is minimal as illustrated by the three repair/
addition permits for the one-half mile radius study area, found in Appendix F of the report.
We trust this provides the requested information. If there should be any questions, please contact
the undersigned.
Respectfully submitted, i0 ENV AONy N'± ^
p.
