L
LSeptember 14,2006
NOA Project Number: E06095A
5.0 SOIL PROFILE AND GEOLOGIC INFORMATION
L The Site is depicted on the California Geological Survey Geologic Map of Cenozoic Deposits of the San
Francisco-San Jose Quadrangle(199 1) as within the CDMG Map 5A. The Modesto Formation consists
of Arkosic alluvium forming Mokehunne River terraces and alluvial fan;chiefly sand with minor
gravel and silt;probably glacial outwash (Plate 7).
L The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the San Joaquin County Soil Survey
L to be composed of Jacktone clay and Hollenbeck clay,both,0-2% slopes (Plate 8) (USDA, 1992).
Table 3 presents some selected properties of these soils:
Table 3.
San Joaquin County Soil Survey
Selected Soil Properties of On-Site Soils.
Soil Name Depth Unified Soil Classification Salinity Soil Perme- Septic tank
mm
and Map (in) mhos/cReaction ability absorption
Symbol pH (in/hr) fields
Galt clay, 0-25 Clay,C1,CH <2 6.6-7.3 .06-.2 Severe:
V 0-20/o 25-34 Clay,silty clay,CL-CH <2 6.6-8.4 .06-.2 cemented
slopes, 160 34-60 Cemented --- --- -- pan,Peres
slowly
Hollenbeck 0-10 Silty clay,CHCL <2 6.6-8.4 .06-.2 Severe:
silty clay,0- 10-37 Clay,silty clay,CH-CL <2 6.6-8.4 .06-.2 peres slowly
2%slopes, 37-42 Silty clay loam,clay loam,CL -- 6.6-8.4 .2-.6
173 42-60 Cemented <2 -- --
w
Jacktone 0-22 Clay,CL,CH <2 6.6-8.4 .06-.2 Cemented
clay,0-2% 22-34 Clay loam,day,silty clay,CI_ <2 7.9-9.0 .o6-.2 pan,peres
slopes,180 CH slowly
3437 Indurated -- -
37-46 Loam,clay loam,CL-ML,CL <2 7.9-9.0 .2-.6
46-60 Cemented --- -- ---
Stockton 0-29: Clay;CL,CH <2 7.4-8.4 0.14-0.16 Severe:peres
clay,0-2% 29-37: Clay,silty day;CL,CH <2 7.4-8.4 0.14-0.16 slowly
slopes,250. 37-42: Clay loam,silty clay loam;CL <2 7.4-8.4 0.14-0.17
►. 42-60: Cemented I --- I --- --
Note:The table descriptions do not necessarily reflect site-specific soil properties.
5.1 Soil Boring Locations
A total of four soil borings were advanced on the Site, two borings to a depth of approximately
L three and a half feet, one boring to 14.5 feet and a boring to 17.5 feet. The soil borings were used , IJ
later for percolation test holes;the locations of the borings are indicated in Plate 1.
L
6
L
L
