Soil Suitability Study i6.7 : Though satisfactory rates were achieved on both parcels it is important to realize that the percolation rates were near the upper limit for the county. It is also important to note that the standard septic system in that area are leach lines with deep pits. Both parcels should follow the standard septic system designs for the area, even though one parcel passed with a shallow test, not a deep. Vitrate Loading Study �3 .1: As noted by our report, the nitrate level in Mr. Pilkington' s well is at 53 .4 mg/L-NO3, above the EPA maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 45 mg/L-NO3 . EHD noticed that Mr. Pilkington's well has a 50 foot grout seal, indicating that there are elevated levels of nitrate in the 'second aquifer. ' EHD noted concern as to recommending this project when nitrate levels in the area are elevated to begin with. However, Mr. Pilkington's well may not be a representative sample of the ground water in the area. So without testing several wells in the area, we may not be looking at the true condition of the aquifer. 173.5: There was concern to the fact that instead of two systems on -20 acres, as calculated in the Nitrate Loading Study, that there will be 9 homes on 5 acres if the project is completed.
