Richard Larrouy August 19, 1994
MS-93-135 Page 2
reduce the amount of dust (fine particulate matter-PM,o) and ozone precursors
(Reactive Organic Gases (ROG), and Oxides of Nitrogen (NO2, NO,) that will result
from construction of this project.
• Building units should be oriented to utilize passive solar cooling and heating to
the fullest extent possible.
• Trees should be carefully selected and located (generally on the southern and
western exposure) to shade structures during the hot summer months.
Deciduous trees should be used since they help cool in the summer and allow
sun to reach the building units during cold winter months.
• All material excavated, graded or otherwise disturbed should be sufficiently
watered or otherwise treated to minimize dust entrainment.
• All clearing, grading, earth moving, or excavation activities should cease when
wind speeds are equal to or greater than 20 mph.
• On-site vehicle speed should be limited to 15 mph.
• All internal combustion engine driven equipment should be properly maintained
and tuned according to manufacturers specifications.
• Idling of all internal combustion equipment shall be limited to ten minutes at any
given time.
• Use of building materials that do not require the use of paints/solvents.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this project. If you have any questions
please call me at 545-7000.
Sincerely,
David J. Stagna
Environmental Planner
Northern Region APCD REF#N9400327
