Mr. Pat Craig
July 5, 2000
3.2 Potential Point Sources of Hazardous Materials
No evidence of surface spilling, underground tanks, above ground tanks, or large-scale chemical
storage areas were observed during the site reconnaissance. Two manhole covers for a septic tank
system is present on the property behind the guest house. Telephone calls to the City of Stockton
and San Joaquin County Public Works departments determined that sanitary sewer services are not
extended to the property by either the City or the County. Thus, the property Iikely remains
serviced by the septic tank.
Evidence of two water supply wells were observed at the property in the form of separate sediment
tanks and apparent above ground well casings. The ages and depths of the wells are unknown.
Groundwater reportedly occurs at approximately 5 feet below ground surface. According to Mr.
Craig, these wells are currently functional and used only for landscape irrigation. California Water
Service, Inc. confirms water service to the property. Although the presence of a water supply well
may provide a conduit for vertical migration of surface contaminants, there is no evidence of any
surface contamination at the property.
Small amounts of various home maintenance chemicals are stored in the garage, including house
paint, paint thinner, and over-the-counter garden chemicals.
Two pole mounted transformers are located on power poles located near the east property boundary
along Moreing Road. The power lines are serviced and maintained by Pacific Gas &Electric.
According to the EDR report(Attachment C) two Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) sites
are located within '/2 mile of the property. The two sites, located at 3100 Monte Diablo Avenue and
3505 Navy Drive, are located southeast of the subject property. Based on the expected regional
groundwater flow to the northeast, these two LUST sites are not expected to impact the subject
property.
4.0 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION OR REMEDIATION
Ground Zero makes no recommendations for further action at this time. However, any water supply
well that may be used for domestic use should be sampled and analyzed for domestic suitability.
5.0 REPORT CERTIFICATION
This Surface and Subsurface Contamination Report was performed under the direct supervision of
John Lane, California Registered Environmental Assessor No. 6305. Mr. Lane has prepared this
report and submits that methods and procedures employed in the development of the report conform
to minimum industry standards.
This assessment was performed at the Client's request utilizing methods and procedures consistent
with good commercial or customary practices designed to conform to acceptable industry standards.
The independent conclusions represent Ground Zero's best professional judgment based on the
conditions that existed and the information and data available to us during the course of this
G:\DataXGROUNDZE\PHASEI\Siegfried-craig.doc
