6. October 17, 2005
NOA Project Number: E05120A
► Mr.Kimbrough noted that the residence and mobile homes are cooled by wall-mounted air conditioners
and heated by propane. According to Mr.Kimbrough, dairy operations on the subject property ceased
on May 31, 2005. He indicated that groundwater flows toward the northeast corner of the subject
property.
3.0 PAST AND CURRENT SOURCES OF CONTAMINATION
3.1 Research Methods
NOA employs a standard practice for review of database information. On a street map showing the
location of the subject property, a circle is drawn one-quarter mile out from the property boundaries,
and street maps or web-based mapping services are then used to determine address ranges for all streets
r. within the quarter mile. All agency databases searchable by address are then searched for these address
ranges.
61 AL1 Regional Water Quality Control Board
NOA reviewed the Leaking Underground Storage Tanks(LUST)list duly 2005),the Water PumgorsQuarterly
Report on MTBE auly 2005),and the Spills,Leaks,Investigations, and Cleanup ('LIC)list(1"Quarter 2005)
on file with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB)°in an attempt to
determine if there are any files present at that agency which note the unauthorized release of a toxic or
ro hazardous agent into the environment on the subject property or within a one-quarter mile radius of
the subject property. The subject property was not listed on any of these databases. The following site
Lwithin one-quarter mile of the subject property were found on the SLIC database:
Shell Central Valley Crude Oil Pipelines Mountain House Pkwy&Grant Line
Files for this site, located adjacent to the northwest of the subject property, were reviewed at the
Regional Water Quality Control Board on October 6,2005. The case involves sampling at the location
of two co-located former Shell pipelines north of Mountain House Parkway (the extension of the
r. former pipelines which cross the subject property). The most recent report on file by Clayton Group
Services summarized the work by that firm to date in delineating the contamination from the pipelines.
Apparently, the pipelines were buried four to five feet below ground surface and were removed from
the property in the 1960s. Clayton sampled along the length of the pipeline and identified a number
of areas of contamination. Soil and/or groundwater contamination in most locations could be
delineated based on the samples collected, but Clayton felt that further sampling was warranted in two
b talifomia Regional Water Quality Control Board,Sacramento,www.swrcbxa.gov.
v
'Clayton Group Services,May 13,2005,Report of Delineation Investigation of Mountain House
Neighborhoods C and D,Former Shell Central Valley Crude Lines,Vicinity of Grant Line Road and Mountain House
Parkway,Tracy,California.
5
to '044
