All fire hydrants in residential areas shall be spaced at a maximum distance of 500 feet. <br /> 2. Hydrants shall not be placed in dead-end alleys (except where dead-end alleys serve <br /> residential driveways and or multi-family residential complex's). <br /> 3. Fire department connections shall be placed within 150 feet of a fire hydrant. <br /> 4. All fire apparatus access roads,public or private, shall have a minimum unobstructed <br /> width of 20 feet and vertical clearance of 13 foot 6 inches. (Planters, medians, monument <br /> strips, and any other decorative area that impedes with the 20 foot required width shall be <br /> approved by the fire department before installation.) <br /> 5. Any street less than 50 feet in width shall have restricted parking,with appropriate <br /> signage and curbs painted with red paint. The fire department shall have final approval on <br /> all fire lane designation, signage, and curb markings. Typical signage shall be "No <br /> Parking—Fire Lane". <br /> 6. All structures; residential, commercial, or industrial, shall have addresses posted on the <br /> applicable structure on the public or private street and such numbering shall be readily <br /> visible and of a contrasting color. <br /> 7. Multiple occupancy residences consisting of two (2)or more dwelling units in a single <br /> building shall be provided with a fire apparatus access roadway around the entire <br /> structure or a residential fire sprinkler system complying with applicable codes. When a <br /> fire sprinkler system is installed in lieu of the fire apparatus access road, it shall be <br /> monitored by an approved fire alarm system and an audible alarm shall be installed in <br /> each living unit and all shall be linked together so that when the alarm activates, it will <br /> activate all alarm audible devices in the building. <br /> 8. When fire alarm systems are installed, it shall be the responsibility of the Homeowners <br /> Association to insure that all monitoring costs including telephone lines are paid to insure <br /> continuous service. Where practical and allowable by the applicable codes, multiple <br /> buildings may be monitored by a master fire alarm panel. <br />
