CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
In summary, the soil conditions in the percolation test locations appear to be suitable for
use with on-site septic systems. Satisfactory soil percolation rates of less than 4.6
min/in (Parcel 1), less than 4.2 min/in (Parcels 2 and 3), and less than 4.4 min/in (Parcel
4) were observed in the test locations. No new construction is planned for the Site.
The depth of ground water based on recent aquifer levels is estimated to range between
51 to 62 feet below ground surface. The ground-water flow is to the north-northeast at a
rate of 8 to 10 feet per mile.
A water sample was collected from the domestic water well. DBCP was not detected in
the sample. Nitrate was detected at a concentration of 10.7 mg/L-N in the water
sample, slightly above the US EPA's Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 10 mg/L-N.
For health reasons, we recommend that the well water not be consumed until nitrate
levels can be reduced to below the MCL. Utilizing bottled water for drinking water may
be a good option to consider. The San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department may be able to recommend other alternatives.
We believe the Site suitable for the use of standard septic systems utilizing leach lines
and seepage pits.
LOGE 1513 Page 9
