5.2 Description of soil profile pit including depth and dimensions: The shallow test hole was
prepared per County Standards. The hole was excavated to a depth of 42 inches and 8 inches in
diameter. It was backfilled with 2 inches of"pea gravel."
5.3 Description of soil lithology as noted from test pit by appropriate professional using
industry standard protocol: The soils in this area are classified as Bruella Sandy Loam, Bruella
Sandy Loam-hard substratum, and Exeter Sandy Loam as stated in the Soil Survey of San Joaquin
County, California as provided by the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation
Service.
5.4 Discussion of soil lithology as related to future onsite septic uses: The Bruella Sandy Loam,
Bruella Sandy Loam-hard substratum, and Exeter Sandy Loam permeability varies between
moderate to moderately slow. Percolation rates were 16.67 min/in. (See Appendix).
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION SECTION
6.1 Site Map Showing the location, with concise and accurate dimensions of the percolation
test holes on the parcel: (See Appendix.)
6.2 The Minimum Number of Shallow and Deep Percolation Tests was Performed for Each
Parcel: One shallow percolation test hole was prepared on the proposed parcel.
6.3 Description of the Date,Time and Protocol Used to Prepare the Test Hole, Including
Depth and Dimensions of Hole, Preparation of Hole, and Depth of Water Used to Presoak
(Minimum 12 Inches): The shallow test hole was excavated to a depth of 42 inches and
8 inches in diameter and backfilled with 2 inches of"pea gravel' in accordance with County
Standards. The shallow hole was prepared by Mike Toy of Dillon&Murphy. On February 12, 2013
at 7:30 a.m. the 24 hour presoak period was started. The hole was filled with 12 inches of water over
the gravel at this time.
6.4 Description of the Date,Time and Condition of the Test Hole After the 24-Hour Soak
Period (Hole Still Intact,Hole Dry, Depth to Water Remaining in Hole,Etc.): On February 13,
2013 at 7:30 a.m. the test hole was dry. Six inches of water was added to the hole and the hole was
deemed suitable to continue. The shallow test passed the minimum County requirements.
6.5 The Test Conformed to San Joaquin County Policy EHD 02-02 (Correct Depth, diameter,
2" gravel,6" Water Refill, Correct Readings Recorded): The percolation test conformed to
San Joaquin County Policy EHD 02-02.
6.6 Complete Percolation Test Form (Including Readings) Was Provided With REHS
Verification Signature. The Rate Was Correctly Calculated Using the Last Reading:
(See Appendix for Test Result Form.)
3
Y:\DMDOO12012\1261\SSS 011613.doc
