r February 25, 2002
Job Number:LG01-397
Page 2
July,numerous"pump-outs"were required to prevent overflow of the system. There are no
known problems with the west septic system.
r A percolation test was performed to evaluate an area that could potentially be used for a
new large septic system. The new system could potentially lessen or eliminate the load on the
eastern septic system.
Il. PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
r
The site is presently a cherry production facility consisting of an icehouse, office space,
and warehouse space. Two septic systems and one water well presently serve the needs of the
r facility. Chinchiolo Fruit Company, Inc. is building a new 50,000 s.f. metal building located in
the northeast comer of the property.
Broadway Investments is in the process of purchasing orchard property located directly
north of the existing facility through a lot line adjustment. A portion of this area could be used
L for a new septic system which could accept the peak seasonal loads and serve the needs of a new
50,000 s.f.metal building.
i_ III. PRESENT AND PAST USE OF THE SITE
An interview with Mr. Robert Chinchiolo was conducted to learn about the site history.
Mr. Chinchiolo indicated the property previous to 1994 was an apple orchard. The property at
that time was owned by Henry Foppiano who owned the land for an unknown period of time
prior to the sale to Broadway Investments. The cherry packing facility was built north of the
r existing Sierra Hills Packing facility after 1994.
The Chinchiolo Fruit Company processes cherry fruit. The busy season is roughly a 10-
week period between May and July. During this period, 200 to 600 temporary employees work
on site for three(3) shifts, seven(7) days a week. Last year, the east septic system, located along
Jack Tone Road, was pumped out frequently due to its inability to dispose of waste water.
During the rest of the year, the septic system serves the exiting office building with 12
employees adequately.
Waste water from the cherry processing line and the apple production line, located on the
neighboring Sierra Hills Packing property,is disposed into a pond located on the west portion of
the site(Plate 1). The California Regional Water Quality Control Board provided Chinchiolo
Fruit Company and Sierra Hills Packing with monitoring requirements which include testing for
r
OF[SOL
4
♦n
O
r SSOC\
r,
