Each of the following bullets is a
response to your inquiry.
•A chain of custody for the water sample is attached to the letter. Also attached is a copy
of the reports.
• The depth of percolation test P-3 is 19-ft and the depth of P-4 is about 3.5-ft. Boring B-
2 was not completed into a percolation test due to clayey soil observed during drilling.
A total of four(4) percolation tests were performed on the site: P-1, P-2, P-3, and P4.
• The estimate for deep percolation of rain in the Lodi area can be estimated by using
precipitation and ETo from the CIMS Lodi Weather Station. Our office has typically
estimated about 7.06 inches of deep percolation of rain on similar projects based on
long term precipitation data and the previous years ETo measurement which was
obtained from the CIMS page on the internet. More recently, long term ETo has been
available from the U.C. Davis Integrated Pest Management database for the same
weather station(http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/WEATHER/retrieveavgs.httnl). The
calculations in the report utilize 7.86 inches for deep percolation of rain however Plate 8
states deep percolation of rain is 6.84 inches. Both numbers should not have been used
together in the report. Both estimates are applicable however 6.84 inches is probably
more conservative since it is based on long term ETo. The following calculations reflect
the adjustment to the nitrate loading balance based on 6.84 inches of deep percolation of
rain.
