XERXES@
CORPORATION
April 13, 2010
Al Mendoza CC: Bill Robbins
Corix Water Products
E-mail: al.mendoza@corix.com
Re: Xerxes' 6-foot-diameter 4,000-gallon Single-Wall Tank "Crush Office Tank"
Xerxes' 6-foot-diameter 5,000-gallon Single-Wall Tank "Dry Goods Tank"
Project: Sutter Home Winery
Dear Mr. Mendoza:
We have summarized the buoyancy data you requested. All of the calculations are
based on the site data you have provided to us and on nominal engineering values for
the physical parameters.
All of the 6-foot tank calculations are based on standard engineering practice. Xerxes uses
approaches in a manner similar to the protocols presented in the PEI/RP 100-05 manual to
calculate the underground tank Buoyancy Safety Factors. For the RST-II tank calculations,
Xerxes uses the approaches presented in the document Xerxes RST-11 Septic Tank
Buoyancy Calculations. That document provides a sample calculation that assumes
water to grade with 18" total cover (minimum required) from top of tank to finished
grade.
It is the tank owner's responsibility to determine the suitability and applicability of
installation. Our sole responsibility in any installation is as stated in our Limited
Warranty.
Our calculations show that, given the installation parameters that you have provided
to us (calculated with the water table at the same elevation as finished grade, burial
depth and anchored as specified) the Buoyancy Safety Factors are as follows:
Tank Burial Depth Anchoring Buoyancy Safety
Factor
Crush Office Tank /' 6 feet 6 inches Xerxes-Supplied
Deadmen 2.34:1
Dry Goods Tank - 4 feet 9 inches Xerxes-Supplied
-Deadmen 2.01:1
5 feet 2 inches No_Secondar Greater than
Anchorage 1.20:1*
5 feet .-No Secondary Greater than
Anchorage 1.20:1*
Continued Next Page......
