6w
February 3, 2006
NOA Project Number:E05171A
Page 2
L 2006 using the same rig and augur. The soils in the boring on Parcel 3 were found to be a reddish
brown silty sand to a depth of 12 feet, followed by a brown clayey sand to a depth of 25 feet. The
soils in the shallow holes were found to be similar to those of the deep percolation test holes.
Within the boring, an inch of "pea gravel' was placed in the bottom of the hole to stabilize the
side wall from caving and prevent erosion while filling the boring. A 2 -inch diameter PVC pipe
with open ends and slots was placed in the hole. About 6 -inches of pea gravel was placed in the
annular space around the pipe. The hole was pre-soaked 24 hours prior to the test with 12 inches
of water above the bottom of the hole.
During the percolation tests, the fall of 6 inches of water was measured above the top of gravel
/ during the 4 -hour test period. Measurements were made every 30 minutes for a four (4) hour
V period. The percolation tests for Parcel 1 and 2 were performed on January 27, 2006, as well as
the shallow test for Parcel 3. The deep percolation test for Parcel 3 was performed on February 2,
.. 2006.
Table 1.
Summary of the Percolation Tests
Test
Date
Boring Depth
Duration
P-1 shallow
1-27-06
3.0
4 -hr
50 min/in
P -I deep
1-27-06
23.7
4 -hr
No movement
Fa in Pere Rate
P-2 shallow
1-27-06
3.0
4 -hr
atisfactory Pere Rate
P-2 deep
1-27-06
22.48
4 -hr
o nt` _
Failing Pere Rate
P-3 shallow
1-27-06
3.0
4 -hr
No ent
fling Perc Rate
P-3 deep
2-2-06
24.0
4 -hr
8.33min/in
ir
Satisfacto Perc Rate
*Acceptable percolation rate is less than or equal to 60 min/in during the last measurement o allow etween
3 and 3.5 feet. Acceptable percolation rate is less than or equal to 30 min/in during the last measurement for a deep
test between 3.5 and 25 feet.
.. The shallow percolation test on Parcel 1 and 2, and the deep percolation test on Parcel 3 achieved
satisfactory percolation rates and meet the requirements established by the San Joaquin County,
` Publi ealt} rvices, Environmental Health ' ision.
Y*
