v .2 Proposed Development
It is proposed to split the Site into one 5.0-acre homesite parcel (Parcel 2), one 40.26
acre parcel (Parcel 1), and a 37.25-acre designated remainder. A new residence for
Mr. Phillips will be placed on the homesite parcel; the Site uses will otherwise remain
unchanged.
,/2.3 To o ra h
A recent U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute topographic map was obtained from the
San Joaquin County District Viewer. In the map, the Site is depicted as orchard with
four structures and a river along its western side. A driveway leads onto the Site from
Jahaint Road. The property is approximately 30 to 35 feet above mean sea level in an
area with a slight grade down to the west. Surrounding properties are primarily shown
to be vineyards. This map is included as Plate 3 in Appendix 1.
3.0 HISTORICAL RESEARCH
il3.1 Aerial Photographs
Live Oak reviewed aerial photographs of the Site provided by the San Joaquin County
Surveyor's Office in Stockton, California. The available photographs were dated 1940,
1952, 1963, 1975, and 1983. Three additional photographs, dated October 1998,
September 2002, and May 2006, were obtained from the San Joaquin County District
Viewer.
In the 1940 photo, the southeast quarter of the Site appears to be planted with irrigated
pasture or crops. The western :half and northeast quarter appear to be vacant or
pasture land. A stream is apparent on the western Side of the Site. Surrounding
properties appear to be vineyards, orchard, wooded land, and dry farmed land.
In the 1952 photo, the eastern side of the Site appears to be vineyard, while the western
side appears to be irrigated pasture. Two large structures and smaller outbuildings are
apparent on the west side of the Site.
In the 1963 photo, the vineyard on the Site is no longer apparent. A new large structure
and several smaller structures can be seen on the western side in addition to those
present in 1952. A portion of the former creek on the Site now appears to be several
small ponds, and the extension of the creek to the west is now dry.
In the 1975 photo, the Site appears to be planted with orchard.
LOGIE1014 Page 2
