L. KLEINFELDER
L Chico Urban Area, page 6, Dames and Moore,April 1996)
LOur calculation is as follows: 3 .5
Ne = 0.37(2)(40)(1 —0.1) + 0.5(8.4) = 26.6+4.2 = 3.4 mg/1 as N
L0.37(2) + 8.4 0.74+ 8.4
L 8. CONCLUSIONS
The results of our percolation tests indicate that the near surface soils exhibit suitable percolation
Lcharacteristics. A suitable soil condition for a test between 3 and 3'V2 feet is defined as a stratum
capable of percolating water at a rate of 60 min/inch or faster. A conventional septic tank/leach
L trench sewage disposal system designed per SJCEHD criteria should adequately serve the
proposed residences.
L As previously discussed, we calculate 3.4 mg/l of nitrate-nitrogen (1) in groundwater resulting
from the proposed leach fields, a result that is below the state drinking water standard of 10 mg/l.
Based on this level of nitrate-nitrogen, we anticipate that the impact on surrounding wells will be  }
L minimal. Lone Tree Creek is the nearest water body to the site and is located approximately %2 2 s
mile northeast of the study area. Due to the distance and the shallow nature of the creek, we
Lanticipate that the impact to surface water will be negligible.
9. LIMITATIONS
LKleinfelder has prepared this report in accordance with the generally accepted standards of care
that exist in San Joaquin County at the time of writing. It should be recognized that definition
and evaluation of geologic and chemical subsurface conditions are difficult. Judgments leading
L to conclusions and recommendations are generally made with an incomplete knowledge of the
subsurface and/or historic conditions applicable to the site. The conclusions of this report are
based on the information provided regarding the existing and proposed development and on-site
L conditions as well as our field observations, percolation test results, and experience in the project
area. It was assumed that the percolation test results are representative of the subsurface
Lconditions in the general area. No warranty, expressed or implied, is made.
Regulations and professional standards applicable to Kleinfelder's services are continually
evolving. Techniques are,by necessity, often new and relatively untried. Different professionals
Lmay reasonably adopt different approaches to similar problems. Therefore, no warranty or
guarantee, expressed or implied, will be included in Kleinfelder's scope of service.
L Kleinfelder will assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any claim, loss of property
value, damage, or injury that results from pre-existing hazardous materials being encountered or
present on the project site, or from the discovery of such hazardous materials.
L
L44419.G01/ST04R785 June 8,2004
©2004 Kleinfelder,Inc.
