LIVE OAK GEO ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
407 W. Oak St., Lodi, CA 95240 (209)369-0375 : iogelodi.com
May 12, 2011
Transmitted by U-S_ Mail RECEIVED
Project Number: 1116
i
Daryll Quaresma ( f MAY 16 2011
1945 River View Cir. Kasson Rd,,Tracy, CA
PA-1100066
:Dear Mr. Quaresma:
We have received the analytical results(attached) for the water sample collected on your property as part
of the above Soil Suitability Study. Details of the sample collection were included on page 4 of the report.
Dibromochloropropane (DBCP)was not detected in the sample.
Nitrate was detected at a concentrationf:70.4Ag -NO3. This salt exceeds the aximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) of 45 mg/L-N by the US EPA. In o , his high level is not
unusual for the area. You may wish to discuss methods of reducing the nitrate levels in your drinking
water with the Environmental Health Department and/or a well contractor. For health reasons, we
.recommend that the well water not be consumed until nitrate levels can be reduced to below the MCL.
Utilizing bottled water for drinking water may be a good alternative to consider.
Although nitrate is a naturally-occurring compound necessary for plant growth, it can cause health
problems when present at high levels in drinking water. The most common health effect of nitrates in
water is methemoglobinemia or blue baby syndrome, which results in reduced oxygen supply to vital
tissues. Pregnant women and certain others can also develop methemoglobinemia. Symptoms include a
bluish color of the skin, as well as headache, dizziness, weakness, and difficulty breathing. Ingestion of
I
high levels of nitrates ales over time can also lead to gastric problems.
We appreciate the opportunity to work on this project. If we can be of any further assistance, please do
not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Live Oak GeoEnvlroamental, Inc.
Delo
David J.
