Soil Suitability Study Parcel No. l and Remainder
Existing Land Use :
A small portion in the northerly end of the total 38. 64 acres
involved in this Soil Suitability Study is devoted to a homesite
and is addressed at 20605 North Kennefick Road, Lodi , California.
The rest of the land surrounding the homesite to the east and north
and south, including Parcel No . 1 , is devoted to agricultural use
and is presently planted in grapes .
Soil Profile Test :
No water was encountered in excavating the Percolation and
Soil Profile Test Holes to a maximum depth of 9 feet 2 inches . See
the attached "Percolation Data Sheet" and "Parcel Map" as well as
the text of this report for the specific soil layer , character ,
and location details .
Excavation to a maximum depth of 9 feet 2 inches below the
ground surface was performed for the Soil Profile investigation on
Parcel No. 1 , at the location shown on the attached "Parcel Map" .
Two basic soil layers were found in excavating to the 9 feet 2
inches depth. From the ground surface to a depth of 6 feet 6
inches , the soil was found to be a brown, sandy loam and at 6 feet
6 inches and below to 9 feet 2 inches , the soil was found to be a
whitish-brown hardpan. Excavation below 9 feet 2 inches below the
ground surface to the desired 10 feet depth in the hardpan material
encountered would have been too difficult and impractical with the
hand tools used in the digging. The 9 feet 2 inches depth excavated
conforms to the standard of no groundwater existing within 5 feet
of the bottom of any recommended leach line trenches . The San
Joaquin County Flood Control And Water Conservation Map entitled
"Lines Of Equal Depth To Water Wells" dated Fall 1990 shows the
water to be in excess of 80 feet below the ground surface .
Percolation Tests :
Two (2) percolation test holes , one ( 1 ) on Parcel No. 1 and
the other on the Remaining Parcel , were excavated to about a 3-foot
depth . The specific location of the two (2 ) percolation test holes
are shown on the attached "Parcel Map" .
All percolation tests conducted were performed in accordance
with the percolation test procedures outlined in the "Manual Of
Septic Tank Practice" published by the Department Of Health
Education And Welfare and the requirements of the San Joaquin
County Public Health Service, Environmental Health Division.
Marvin and Loretta Taylor 3
