No municipal water and sewer utility hookups are available and probably never will. Consequently,
the region has wells and on-site septic systems.
Within the text of this Report, bolded Section (§) numbers are referenced at the beginning of an
applicable Section number, sentence, paragraph or Appendices that correspond with the EHD
Requirements Checklist for Surface and Subsurface Contamination Reports.
2.0 PAST, PRESENT AND PROPOSED FUTURE USES OF THE SITE
✓§ 2.1 The region has been farmed since the late 1800's and early 1900's. The regional farmland
became irrigated in the 1950's. Agricultural production has occurred on, and in the vicinity of the
subject site since this time. The property has been in agricultural production for the last 60 years. The
entire subject property is planted in wine grapes, except for the southern half of APN Parcel "12",
whereby the vineyard was recently removed in October of this year.
As noted below, due to the high groundwater table in this locale, impact from agricultural inputs have
notably occurred, particularly nitrate impact. This type of impact occurs in virtually every region
under agricultural production.
Structures on the property, including an office and a residential mobile home have septic systems,
which will be denoted on the Tentative Map. Surface flood irrigation is supplied by an on-site
irrigation well. From the 1970-1977 USDA aerial photo, the referenced buildings are present. As
illustrated on the USDA Soil Map and the USGS Topographical Map, there are no natural drainage
courses through the property since it is entirely fanned.
3.0 IDENTIFICATION OF ALL PAST AND
CURRENT SOURCES OF CONTAMINATION
/§ 3.1 The information to complete this report was obtained through direct observation during site
reconnaissance, government agency consultation, aerial photo survey, or through interviews with Mr.
Mike Farley, Mr. Tom Stokes, and his daughter Sharon. The Stokes Family has owned and farmed
the subject property since circa 1976. The previous owner of the Parcel to the Mr. Tom Stokes,
were his parents, who owned and farmed the property for 30+years. Due to the length of ownership
time, potential problems by prior ownership can be considered inconsequential.
§3.2, §3.3 As evidenced by the attached photographs, the property does not contain an electrical
transformer; however, there is one on the east side of Kile Road that serves the irrigation well. No
oil leakage was noted.
The entire acreage was driven around and walked through to survey for evidence of surface and/or
subsurface contamination. No unusual containers were observed, nor was there evidence of solid,or
liquid waste disposal. As noted from the Photographic Plates, the vineyard encompassing the
approximate southern half of the Parcel was recently removed. No hazardous materials were
observed in these piles of vines.
Page -3-
Chesney Consulting
