September 30, 2007
NOA Project Number: E07141A
._e 6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
6.1 Percolation Test Locations
A site map indicating the locations of theercolation test holes is incl `
p sided s Plate 1 f this report.
6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
One"hallow" "percolation to_st_was-t-was-co ducted on each proposed parcel of the site, for a total of
n n shallow e on D considers a shallow percolation. test boring to be betwe " 36
a in es eep.
6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
The soil borings were advanced with a hand augur on the site on August 30, 2007. r---
# 1 A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel"were placed in the —
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea gravel"
_. was then used to backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred approximately 24 hours before the percolation
tests. The depth of water used to pre-soak was 12inches above the bottom of the boring. c
6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact and dry on the day of
testing.
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
Nine percolation tests for the site were conducted on August 31, 2007. All percolation tests were
performed in accordance with the requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of
four hours was performed for each hole. The final half-hour of each four-hour percolation test was
observed by Mr. Ted Tasiopoulos, EHD.
Measurement of the water level during the percolation test was from a fixed reference point on the
PVC casing using an electric well sounder with an depth accuracy of 1/100th foot. All tabulated
values on the field data sheet (appendix) are in decimal feet. After water drop was observed, the
holes were checked for refill. The refill level was approximately 0.5 ft (6 inches) of water above the
bottom level of the percolation test hole. The readings were taken approximately every 30 minutes
for a period of four hours.
7
