V
01 May 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 07-1516
indications, such as chemical storage or dumping, spilled powders, discolored or stained soil,
r. or stressed vegetation, that the property has been significantly adversely impacted by
agricultural chemicals. AGE notes that the property formerly stored and used agricultural
chemicals, but the buildings and storage areas were removed by the time of the site
reconnaissance.
• One 1,000-gallon UST (unleaded gasoline) was removed from the site in November 1992
` without SJCEHD permits. In May 1993 confirmation sampling was performed by Geological
Audit in the approximately 16' x 8' x 8' tank pit; two samples were collected from the tank
pit and one from the stockpile. The samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene,
r,. ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX),Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g)
and Total Lead. The results of the analyses inferred non-detect for BTEX and TPH-g and low
levels of lead (11 - 15 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg)) where the detection level was 1
1. mg/kg.This UST location appears to have been south from the former airplane parking strip.
A closure letter from the SJCEHD for this UST removal was issued on 21 December 1993.
• With the 1990 issuance of Monitoring and Reporting Program (M&RP) Order #90-810,
Cleanup and Abatement Orders#87-734 and 89-705 were rescinded by the CVRWQCB;no
soil cleanup was required at that time.
0 Property use included a residence and trailer that appeared to have utilized an in-ground
septic system; septic systems provide the potential of trespass to the subsurface; AGE has
no direct evidence that a trespass has occurred.
• The lack of an asbestos survey for the subject property hangar. The age of the hangar might
indicate that a survey be performed, but as noted from the site reconnaissance, the building
. was of metal construction with a dirt floor; no items of possible asbestos-containing
materials were noted.
Recognized Environmental Conditions
This assessment has revealed the following recognized environmental conditions (RECs) in
bo
connection with the property:
6 0 As noted from the property history and the Interview, the property has been utilized as a crop
dusting service for over 50 years, with former and possibly long-term storage and use of
agricultural chemicals, former fueling operations, the potential of spillage when the airplanes
. were loaded and the storage of scrap metals for at least four years.
• Site investigations have been performed on the subject property with reference to a wash
water discharge area and chemical storage areas since 1985.Cleanup and Abatement Orders
were issued by the CVRWQCB in 1987 and 1989 to ensure further property assessment.
[r Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
r
