The proposed project is located in southwest San Joaquin County,south of the <br /> city of Tracy and northeast of the intersection of Interstates 5 and 580. The 217.5-acre site is bounded by SR <br /> 132Nemalis Road/Ohm Road on the north,Koster Road on the east,Blewett Road and the Hetch Hetchy <br /> Aqueduct on the south,and the Delta Mendota Canal on the southwest. The project is a phased quarry <br /> excavation application to extract 20 million cubic yards of aggregate over a 40-year period. The project also <br /> includes a reclamation plan proposing to reclaim the site back to agriculture and/or a portion to be used as a <br /> water storage pond. <br /> The Draft EIR evaluates potential project effects on a range of resources,including aesthetics,agricultural <br /> f resources,air quality,biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils,hydrology and water quality, <br /> hazards,noise,public services and utilities, and traffic, as well as cumulative and growth-related impacts. <br /> Mitigation measures are proposed where feasible to reduce significant impacts. Altematives'to the project are <br /> evaluated qualitatively and compared to the proposed project. <br /> The Draft EIR is now available for a 45-day public review and comment period. The comment period is from <br /> February 23,2007 through April 9,2007. You may obtain a copy of the document at the San Joaquin County <br /> Community Development Department,located at 1810 E.Hazelton Avenue in Stockton,California between <br /> the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (except holidays). <br /> Written comments regarding the Draft EIR must be received by the Community Development Department no <br /> later than 5:00 p.m.,April 9,2007.
