I
00.1N
i _ k" KLEINFELDER
4.3 GROUNDWATER DEPTHS AND SAMPLING
4.3.1 Measurement of Water Levels
Kleinfelder attempted to obtain depth to groundwater from three "deep" wells (DW-1, DW-2 and
DW-3), one domestic well (DOM-1) and two recently installed monitoring wells (MW-1 and MW-
2) on November 30, 2000 (see Plate 1 for well locations). A groundwater level was only obtained
in a single deep well DW-2 only. The remaining wells were unable to be sounded due to
inaccessibility, lack of measuring points, or the wells being dry. Details of Kleinfelder's findings
are presented below.
k
F 4.3.1.1 DEEP WELLS
Two of the three deep wells (DW-1 and DW-2B) are onsite supply wells. DW-1 was in use at the
time of the soundings and apparently is rarely shut down. No measuring point or access for a
groundwater sounding was available from this well. DW-2B is reportedly a non-operating supply
well. A depth to groundwater in DW-2B was measured at 208.52 feet below top of casing. Deep
Well DW-3 is located offsite and east of the subject site about 350 feet east of the Delta Mendota
Canal. This well is a irrigation well, which is reportedly operated during the growing season. No
measuring point or access for a sounding was noted at this well.
f 4.3.1.2 DOMESTIC WELL
A domestic well is located near the southwestern corner of the subject site. Access was not
available as no one was home and dogs were loose around the residence. No groundwater depths
were sounded at this well.
a
4.3.1.3 MONITORING WELLS
r
Both monitorin wel s - - stalled between the ro osed settling basin" and the
I Delta Mendota Canal were found to be dry at total depths of about 35 feet be ow groixnd surface.
I
No elevation survey has been conducted of the various wells mentioned in this report and only one
water level was obtained. Because of the lack of water and sounding ports, a groundwater flow
direction and gradient could not be calculated. For details refer to the record of water level
:
measurements found in Appendix C.
k
E 4.3.2 Collection of Groundwater Samples
f
I
A total of 3 uoundwater sam les were colle e de - and
12W-3 on Nove Both of the monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2 were found to be
dry and no access was available for the domestic well (DOM-1) located near the southwest corner
i of the subject site.
20-2245-36.E01/201 18279 Page 5 of 10
Copyright 2001,Kleinfelder, Inc.
