• Discussion of Nitrate Loading Results <br /> Total Nitrate Impact <br /> Based on the method and assumptions described, the result of the nitrate loading <br /> estimate indicates that the proposed fourplexes on the Site have the potential to cause <br /> a buildup of nitrates in the aquifer above 10 mg/L-N. As a result, mitigation measures <br /> are warranted. It is recommended that an engineered septic system with the ability to <br /> reduce nitrate levels in the effluent be installed at the proposed fourplexes. <br /> Calculating backwards with the Hantzsche and Finnemore equation, and using the other <br /> variables discussed in this report, the average nitrate as N concentration of the post- <br /> treatment septic effluent should not exceed 16.5 mg/L to maintain long-term nitrate <br /> levels in the aquifer below 10 mg/L-N (Plate 12). <br /> • LOGE 1623 Page 11 <br />
