Surface and Subsurface Cont m nation Report'APN:251-050-03*Parcel Nos-174 Designated Remainder
CAPAY CLAY
Capay Clay is a very deep and wet soil on a 0%to 2% slope. The soil is of alluvial
derivation from mixed rock sources with a high water table as a result of irrigation water.
It is at elevations from 25 feet to 140 feet, in a climate with annual rainfall of ten(10)
inches and average temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit with 270 frost-free days. The
soil has a high shrink-swell factor and permeability is generally slow and the available
water capacity is high.
The soil color of the soil below the ground surface at various depths are listed as
follows:
0 to 20 Grayish Brown/Dark Grayish Brown/Dark Brown
20 to 60 Pale Brown
The percent of clay, soil type, plasticity index, permeability and density at various
depths below the ground surface are listed as follows:
DEPTH SOIL TYPE PLASTICITY PERMEABILITY %CLAY DENSITY
In Inches) INDEX (Inches/Hour) (Grams/cc)
0 to 20 Clay 20-35 0.06-0.20 40-60 1,30- 1.50
20 to60 Clay/ Silty Clay 20 -35 0.06-0.20 40 - 60 1.30- 1.50
DEPTH SOIL TYPE LIQUID SHRINK AVAILABLE WATER
In Inches LIMIT SWELL CAPACITY(In/In)
0" -20" Clay 40-60 High 0,14-0.16
20" -60" Clay/Silty Clay 40-60 High 0.14-0.16
The rate of water intake for the soil is 0.1 inches per hour. The general use for this
soil is for irrigated crops and a few homes.
Some problems that are associated with development of the property are(1) slow
permeability, (2)high shrink-swell potential, (3)high water table and (4) low strength.
ZACHARIAS CLAY LOAM
The Zacharius series consists of well-drained soils on alluvial fans and low stream
terraces. These soils are very deep. They formed in alluvium derived from mixed rock
sources. Slope ranges from 0 to 8 per cent.
Soils of the Zacharius series are fine-loamy,mixed thermic Typic Xerochrepts
and can be found 250 feet north and 350 feet east of the southwest corner of Section 5, T.
3 S., R 5 E., Tracy Quadrangle.
0 to 6 inches; dark grayish brown clay loam, very dark grayish brown moist; weak
fine subangular blocky structure; hard, friable, sticky and plastic; many very fine and
Caryl and Marie Than 77709 Cnllth r ammera Rnari Tram r'ai;fnmia 95'476. 0091 R'i5- 5910 6
