from this source. According to an analysis of these maps (Plates 5 and 6), ground
water elevation is 58 to 62 feet above mean sea level; ground water flows down to the
northeast at a rate of 4.4 to 6.7 feet per mile in the vicinity of the Site.
Given that the ground elevation of the Site is approximately 88 to 97 feet, the depth to
water below the Site is estimated to range between 27 to 35 feet, depending on the time
of year.
Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
The Soil Suitability Study is not intended to be an investigation into ground-water
contamination sources, and no such investigation was conducted. Many sources can
contribute to ground water contamination, including leaking underground storage tanks,
agricultural activities, dairies, septic systems, and storm water infiltration. Agricultural
activities and the use of septic systems in the area are known ground water
contamination sources with the potential to impact the Site.
On-Site Wells
No wells are located on the Site. One 2003 permit for pump replacement at a domestic
well at the Site address was identified at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department. Mr. Robertson indicated, however, that there are no wells on the Site; this
permit may refer to an adjacent property. It has been included in Appendix 4.
lWater Sample \
No w
efts are located on the Site. AJo water sample was collected for this study. D
Soil Pro i e and Geologic Information
The Site is depicted on the Preliminary maps showing Quaternary geology of the Tracy
and Midway 7.5-minute quadrangles, California (Sowers and others, 1993). The Site is
depicted within map units of Holocene fan and terrace deposits of Corral Hollow Creek
and levee deposits of Corral Hollow Creek. Both units are described as "unconsolidated
silts, clays, sands, and gravels derived from the Coast Ranges" (Plate 7). Only a
portion of the Site is included on this map; the remainder of the Site is likely to have
similar geology.
The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the USDA Web
Soil Survey to be composed of Capay clay, 0 to 2 percent slopes, Capay clay, wet, 0 to
2 percent slopes, and Stomar clay loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes (Plate 8) (USDA, 2009).
The table below presents some selected properties of these soils:
LOGE1008 Page 3
