L %%Re 140d LDecember 6,2004 NOA Project Number: E040130A 6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION V 6.1 Percolation Test Locations L A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 of this report. L6.2 Number of Percolation Tests One shallow and one deep percolation test were conducted on each proposed parcel of the Site, for La total of three shallow and three deep percolation tests. V16.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation LThe soil borings on Parcels 1 and 2 were advanced on the Site with a truck-mounted B53 augur rig on November 17,2004. The soil borings on Parcel 3 were advance on the Site with the same drill Lrig on November 19,2004. A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of Lwater in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel" were placed in the bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. Several fee of"pea gravel'were backfilled in the annular space. L / Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred on Sunday,November 28, 2004. The depth of water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring. LJ 6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation L After the 24-hour soak period,the presaturated holes were found to be intact on November 29, 2004. The deep holes were found to be dry,while standing water was observed in the shallow holes. LV 6.5 Percolation Test Procedure Percolation tests were conducted for the borings on Monday,November 29, 2004 in accordance L with the requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for each hole. The final half-hour of each four-hour percolation test was observed by Ms. Lisa Medina, Registered Environmental Health Inspector, EHD. L L L L 9 L
