JUL 15 1991
COMMUNITYDEVELOPMENI DEPT.
PIANNING DIVISION July 9, 1991
San Joaquin County Planning Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Re : Application: SA-91-39
Applicant: Ken Silveira
15966 No Linn Rd
Lodi, Ca 95290
Description: Site approval for a kennel and 25 dogs .
Purpose : Letter of protest from the residents of Linn
Road .
Dear Mr . Chandler T. Martin,
This letter is in response to the application for a dog kennel
permit at 15966 No Linn Road by Mr . Ken Silveira .
There are many reasons why the residents of this community do not
want this dog kennel to be approved . I hope you and the
Commission will agree to what our grievances are and can be
helpful in allowing us to maintain a peaceful existence .
After reviewing the application, it is obvious to us that
irregularities already exist, that you in particular, have over
looked. First of all, the applicant Earleen Guroos, no longer
resides in the area . She has sold the property to Ken Silveira
several months ago and has nothing to loose by allowing another
dog kennel into this area . Did I mention another dog kennel; we
already have one legal kennel and one illegal kennel in our area .
These kennels are all within 1/2 mile of one another . With
approval of this kennel, we have the potential of having in
excess of over 75 dogs in a one-half mile radius, and we think
that is outrageous .
It is not unusual for local bureaucracies to overlook the real
needs of the public in order to facilitate an over burdened work
load and just pass the paper through in order to get it off your
desk . But, we have a serious crises here that needs to be
addressed in a serious manner .
Other problems that exist are that of agriculture, safety, and
health.
First of all, this area that is zoned agriculture, is not your
standard rural area . Though the zoning has never changed, the
area has changed . The town of Lockford, which is 1 1/2 miles
away, is one of the fastest growing areas around .
