Since founding Geo-Phase Environmental Inc. in 19%,Steve has performed or supervised
all aspects of hundreds of Phase I Site Assessments of a wide variety of commercial and industrial
facilities. Most of these assessments have been completed on behalf of commercial or industrial
businesses,or their lending institutions.
Steve has also conducted and supervised numerous soil and groundwater investigations to evaluate and
define the extent of contamination from gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, solvents and pesticides. This work
requires designing field investigations including soil borings, monitoring well construction, and
appropriate sampling and laboratory protocols. This work is typically conducted under the oversight
of governmental regulatory agencies. The include the Stanislaus County Department of
Environmental Resources, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, The California
Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control.
Steve has completed,or is in the process of completing clean-up or mitigation of contaminated sites in
a variety of locations and settings in the Central Valley. Two large projects involved active
remediation of large gasoline releases to groundwater that are complicated by the main contaminant
mass being situated a substantial distance below the groundwater surface. This clean-up strategy
involved the design and implementation of a large remedial system using simultaneous vapor
extraction and air injection.
PUBLISHED PAPERS
1977 Petrography of the Upper Jurassic Through Oligocene Sand Stones Kamishak Hills Area,Lower Cook
Inlet,Alaska,U.S. US Geological Survey Circular#732.
