Current and Past Property Uses: The subject property is undeveloped and no structures
were observed during our site reconnaissance_ The property is currently partially covered
by natural vegetation, which includes natural grasses and foxtails_
Mr. Ramesh Birla has owned the property since February 1998. The current property is
an open field but according to the owner it used to be an apricot orchard and was in that
condition when purchased in 1998 (from a Marion Minitta). San Joaquin County
Assessor and Recorder Offices' records were researched shows that the subject property
was purchased as described by the current owners. The property has not appeared to
have been used for business or industrial-type use.
Property Site Reconnaissance: On Wednesday, June 20, 2001 a property
reconnaissance was made by Scott Cragin. The surface reconnaissance attempted to
ascertain whether the subject property contained above ground fuel tanks, oil drums, or
other petroleum products use or storage. Site photos which show site conditions on day
of the property reconnaissance are attached to this report.
No above ground fuel storage tanks, oil drums, or other petroleum product of pesticide or
herbicide receptacles or containers were observed. Since none of the items listed
previously were found, the subject property does not appear to have any likely
contamination sources suggestive of a petroleum products or pesticide source.
The only property improvements observed were what appeared to be flood irrigation lines
that most likely were used when the orchard was in use, for irrigation purposes only. The
water valve outlets appeared to be out of service for some time.
No vent pipes, ground discoloration or any indications of excavations were observed to
indicate any subsurface tank contamination sources. No subsurface excavations or
subsurface sampling and laboratory analysis were made or conducted as a part of this
property reconnaissance.
San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's_ Office Files Chemical Search:
The San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office was requested to access
their files and report any pesticide and/or herbicide applications submitted over the last
five years. The County Agricultural Commissioner's Office reported that no records
were found (over the past 5-years) for placing pesticides and herbicides on-site by the
present property owner on the subject property. This information can be found in their
letter dated 06-12-01, which is found attached to this report.
Possible Nitrate Contaminants: As the property does not appear to have been used for
either leach field/septic disposal or have had agricultural fertilizers used on-site, Wright
does not suspect excessive nitrate concentration present at this time. The occasional
squirrel burrows found on the property are assumed to be indigenous animal population
whose droppings are present but did not appear to be an excessive nitrate presence on the
subject property.
RAMESH BIRLA PROPERTY AT 8253 WEST LINNE ROAD,TRACY,CA 95376
Page 4
